You're all right, it's another scam number. I don't know but I wouldn't be surprised if you wind up paying some inflated amount when you call them back...

I received call at 14:28 on the 8th June 2009, I missed the initial call, at 17:47 again on the 8th June 2009 i returned the call and after a few rings a young lady named allison answered the phone and stated "hello Vheicle Media UK, Allison speaking" I asked who are you and that i had missed a call from this number, she informed me that one of her colleagues had tried to contact me regarding a car i have for sale, i asked then are you looking to purchase the vehicle, Allison then continued with, "we have a potential buyer interested in your car and if i can take your details i will put the potential buyers to you".
I kindly declined to give my information and stated, appologies the car is basicly sold and that i would not be interested as i know this is a scam, after a poor speech about how a similar company with the same area code is a company causing the problem as "they" are a scam company and not us, i just said no and goodbye.

Like anything never give your informaiton unless you know exactly who your are speaking with and have researched the company in question.

My advice, ask them first of all for their bank details and company registration number, if they give this to you then research them but still be vigilant, but in most cases they will not give you this information and your answer should be so why should i give you my information.

Just avoid these types of calls at all costs and only sell your car through a reputable company of which you know are legitimate and in most cases would not ask for your personal informaiton within just a few seconds, if they are looking to charge an administration fee, and you are happy to pay the fee stated, tell them this will be paid upon a sucessful sale and only once the funds have been credited and cleared to your account. If they uphold their part and are confident they can sell your car they should not have a problem with this.

But again, I would avoid these types of companies at all costs.

If in doubt, just pull out.

As for stopping these types of companies, just notify trading standards with as much information as you can and after they have received a certain amount of complaints regarding a specific company they will act upon this and begin researching the complaints.

I also have had a call from these people, but as soon as you say it is sold they terminate the call. I work in the motor trade and i assure you it is a scam. They say they have buyers lined up to buy your car and you need to pass a fee over to them so they can sell YOUR car to them. I am sure these so called buyers have access to the internet to view your car on the Auto trader website.

NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT ACCEPT THE SERVICES OFFERED BY THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I had the pleasure of using their services and thats why I am posting this note; to let you know that this company is not genuine. They will debit your account, not give you a receipt and not deliver the goods! Which is the so called customers that are waiting right now, as they say:when giving their sales pitches! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I have just spoken to Trading Standards and the company does exist in thir register - it is a legally operating company and I also received a phone call from them yesterday.
I am not sure what to do about it, they offer quick transaction and obviously I have to pay an upfront fee of £89 and the car will be sold in no time.
The guy from Vehicle Media will call me back this evevning so I have some time to think about this whole transaction and maybe figure out what to do.

yes - missed a call from this number as well as 01162616708 (also scan) 1 min earlier. I missed both as at work - but phoned back from work phone withheld number. Yes I have had this crowd phoning from lots of numbers last few days. 2 days ago asking for £75 for agency fees as they had found buyer. It seems that autotrader has alot of people hassling you as my mate - also advertising his car last month, had the same people phone him.
Leave us alone!

Just had a missed call from this number, i'm selling my car on Autotrader and i've been inundated with annoying phone calls from companies kindly offering to put me in contact with buyers desperately falling over themselves to buy my car, but for a price! Because of this i'm very cautious of who i answer the phone to, and thats really sad seeing as i really want sell my car! This number called me today but because it was an 01992 number i thought it would be genuine! I tried calling back but it was constantly engaged. After reading these comments i wont be calling again! Can't wait to sell it so my ad and phone number are off the internet!!!!!

Got a missed call on my "temporary phone", which I have set up soley to use to sell my car. Thinking I had a perspective buyer, I called the number back. Upon answering, I explained to the chap on the other end that I had recieved a call from his phone, he asked if I was selling a car and if so which car and how much, I told him. An explanation came regarding the phone call, informing me that he belonged to a company who find cars for thier customers and just so happened that he had somebody who wanted to buy mine and for £100 more than I was asking. It seemed a little strange that somebody was paying a middleman to buy a car for more money than it was being advertised on a national sales board. Not believeing my ears I questioned the chap who assured me that it was all above board, so I went along for the ride. He asked where I was based and I told him the town, he said that his buyer was close to me and named a place not 3 miles away. A few normal questions followed, "why am I selling my car?", I explained, he asked if I had the log book and could his client view my car, I agreed yes to both. Guaranteeing that the buyer will buy my car as long as it is in good condition, he informed me that I would have to register with him for the cost of £89. I questioned this fee and he still assured me that everything was ok but the money would need to be payed before any veiwings, he also now had a few potential buyers lined up. By now i think he realised that I wasn't playing ball, he told me i was losing out and wished me luck in the sale of my car.
